This was preceded by a virtual jury meeting on 17 April 2020, which did not yet produce a final result. Subsequently, the existing designs were revised again, and in June the jury unanimously agreed on the design by ksg.
The winning design was already officially presented to the Planning Committee of the City of Ingolstadt on 30 June 2020.
The project developer will now carry out the development plan procedure for the entire area together with the city of Ingolstadt on the basis of the design. In the course of the procedure, the former Rieter and Bäumler sites in the north-east of Ingolstadt will be reorganised. The Gerchgroup had acquired the entire site at the end of 2018 and is striving to create a quarter with a variety of uses. One focus will be on residential construction. This will be supplemented with office space, social infrastructure and other commercial uses while preserving the listed shed roof hall and the water tower. The Nordpark serves as a recreation area and is to extend far into the area in the future.
The design by the architects kister scheithauer gross convinced the jury above all because of its coherent overall concept. The other two places were taken by RKW Architektur + (Düsseldorf) and Angerer Architekten und Stadtplaner (Munich). The three offices were awarded prizes in the first round of the urban planning competition on 14 November 2019 and revised their designs by 12 February 2020. Suggestions and ideas from the citizens were also incorporated, they had the opportunity to discuss the designs at a workshop on 4 December 2019.
Alexander Pauls, Director of Development at [[gerchgroup}} AG, emphasised "that with the design by ksg we now have a good basis for the further planning process of the INquartier. Furthermore, I am extremely satisfied that in times of Corona we have been able to draw something positive from the process and enter new digital territory. Just a few months ago, an online jury meeting like the one on April 17 would have been unthinkable. I would like to thank all those involved and hope that we will be able to use such innovative methods in the future.“
The designs of the three architectural firms can be viewed on the website www.inquartier.de.
